Antidepressant

TRYING
Doctors may prescribe antidepressants to depression. They work to balance some of the natural chemicals in our brains. It may take several weeks for them to help. There are several types of antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), tricyclic antidepressants, and atypical antidepressants.
RESEARCH STUDIES
Twice-weekly and thrice-weekly administration of ketamine at 0.5 mg/kg similarly maintained antidepressant efficacy over 15 days.
Use of antidepressants, specifically selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, during the second and/or third trimester increases the risk of ASD in children, even after considering maternal depression. Further research is needed to specifically assess the risk of ASD associated with antidepressant types and dosages during pregnancy.

Significant improvement, a few side effects
Side Effects: hallucination
Directions: 10 mg a day for a year
Cost: $1200
I took Celexa, a SSRI antidepressant, for a year. It definitely helped with my depression. I was feeling happier and more optimistic. I recommend avoiding caffeine while on this drug or your anxiety will become worse. If you decide to stop taking this drug, I suggest you slowly reduce the dosage. I experienced some side effects after I completely stopped taking Celexa.

Worse than before, many side effects
Side Effects: nausea, headache, dizziness
Directions: 30 mg per day and ramped up to 90 mg for 6 months
Cost: $500
I took Cymbalta for depression for about 6 month with increasing dosage. It seemed to work initially. I went on vacation and couldn't get my prescription in time. The withdrawal was horrible. I experienced headaches, nausea, and dizziness for two months. It was so bad that I asked the doctor to discontinue my treatment.
